November 2014
Here at BASCOL, we are so thankful for all of the families that have children enrolled in our programs.  We have received your completed customer satisfaction surveys and are grateful for your feedback.  We will continue to strive to provide the best program possible for your children. Upcoming program activity themes in November are "Let's Talk Turkey" and "Giving Thanks".  The children will be making cornucopias, paper bag turkey hats and "Give Thanks" place mats. They will also be playing Thanksgiving tag and doing the Turkey Strut.

As winter weather has crept upon us, please remember to bring appropriate outdoor attire for your child each day (hat, gloves, snowsuit, snow boots, extra dry socks and pants, etc.)  We have distributed Snow Day Procedure Memos to families outlining where to bring your child on days when school hours are altered due to inclement weather.  Please review and call the BASCOL office with any questions.

Sign-Up Sheets for December Break are now out at sites.  Please make sure to write yes or no next to your child's name for each of the days off.  BASCOL sites and office will be closing at 2:00pm on Christmas Eve and will be CLOSED on Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

Reminders:

  • Please make sure you are signing your child/ren in and out each day when you drop off/pick up and also write down the time.
  • If your child takes medication at BASCOL, please remember to bring it with you on full days as well.
  • Tuition payments for the week of December 1st-5th will be due on Wednesday, November 26th due to the Thanksgiving Holiday to avoid a late payment fee.

Best wishes to all for a bountiful and safe Thanksgiving Holiday!

April 2014

Spring has finally sprung! Warmer weather is just around the corner. We are now registering for BASCOL's Ultimate Summer Escape program and have lots of fun activities planned!  We are partnering for the second year with the National Inclusion Project to implement the Let's ALL Play program.  Let’s ALL Play brings an inclusive recreational experience to children with disabilities. Through training, staffing, and scholarships, Let’s ALL Play gives children with special needs the same experience as those without.

Over the summer, each week has a theme and we are featuring LEGO MANIA week which will include building and taking home a LEGO pull back car!  There are also several exciting field trips planned.  We have an inflatable water slide that will be used on special days and we will do water play with sprinklers!  Remember, you can register for just the weeks and the days that you need for the summer.  Click here to visit our summer program website page for more information.

BASCOL sites and administrative office are now collecting new and gently used bathing suits for boys and girls sizes 4T to Adult XL as part of the Mayor's Urban Swim Initiative.  So, if you are doing some Spring cleaning and find that you have unwanted new or gently used bathing suits, please bring them in!  We will be collecting them through June 13th.

Thank you all for your continued community support!

March 2014

We are very exited to announce that BASCOL opened its 17th site location at Holy Cross School in Dewitt on March 3rd!  We look forward to partnering with the school and serving the families there.

The site programming themes for the month of March include Mardi Gras, Leaping Leprechauns, Spring Fever and Cirque du Soleil.  BASCOL children will have many exiting activities to participate in this month!

BASCOL is now collecting pasta donations to help fill the Salvation Army's Christmas Bureau Baskets.  Since pasta is non-perishable, we can start collecting now for this coming December.  Please turn in your pasta donation to your site or the BASCOL office by March 28th.  The sites that collect the most pasta will receive a pizza and ice cream party for the children.  Thank you in advance for your support!

Please keep an eye out for the sign-up sheets for full days and half days off from school.  The sign-up sheets for April Break will be out soon.

January 2014

Happy New Year and Welcome Back!

Some of our sites started off the new year with two snow days in a row. . . but not to worry, BASCOL's talented planning team prepares for these days ahead of time. We were open at the full day sites with plenty of fun activities ready to go!

A huge thank you goes out to all students who recently participated in the annual Syracuse Federation Creative Writing Contest!  The contest was open to all K-12 students in CNY. We are proud to say that several students who participated through BASCOL placed in their respective categories.  The first place winners will move on to the state competition and if they win at the state level they will move on to the National competition.  We wish them good luck!

BASCOL will be offering an exiting field trip to Flamingo Bowl on Thursday, February 20th during Winter Break.  You can sign up for the entire break or just a couple days for something fun for your child/ren to do. Please look for the sign-up sheets out at your site or call the BASCOL office at 622-4815 for more information.
